2020 Calendar
January 3, 2020

Starting June 2019, I have been creating a monthly calendar and post a series of photos on Instagram to recap the past months. I started doing this because I want to rethink how Instagram can be used — a documentary, a tool, a time machine. And creating a cover for each of these miniseries of photos kept me accountable to practice using Photoshop and Illustrator and just staying creative and curious about graphic design.
Creating a full 2020 calendar has been a goal of mine since this monthly ritual. I thought it would make the perfect holiday gift / greeting for my friends and family to start off the new year. I also felt like remembering to make one every month was diverting my attention from my other creative endeavors. Lastly, it is a good challenge to incorporate my various and diverse interests in graphic design, illustration, and typography.
I call this Project 0 of my 20 projects as it was created in 2019, but it also aptly represents my new year, new beginning, new ideas. In the blurb I wrote on the first page, this calendar represents a piece of me as it contains some of my favorite song lyrics and cliche sayings. This calendar is my time capsule of my first months in New York, on the cusp of great change and growth.
